For parents and caregivers
Key information about the Kort project and what participation means for your child
Who are invited to participate in Kort?
Youth (12-20) who have mild to moderate difficulties with emotions and stress and who have contacted their school nurse.
What does participation mean?
Youth who consent to participate in the Kort study will:
- Have a minimum of 4 consultations with their shool nurse within 10 weeks. The consultations will be audio recorded using an end-to-end encrypted dictaphone app.
- Be invited to respond to four questionnaires about their mental health
- Receive brief (1-3 min) daily questions about emotions and their work with the school nurse
- Be invited to a digital interview about their experiences after 10 weeks
Gift card
Your adolescent will receive rewards(tokens) for each questionnaire they respond to. The reward tokens are added up and converted to a universal gift card from Gogift after 10 weeks. The gift card will have a maximum value of NOK 600, depending on how many questionnaires the youth has completed.
Why participate in Kort?
Research shows that a large proportion of mental health difficulties are linked to how we relate to intense emotions. Being aware of your emotions and making conscious choices even in moments when they are intense is called emotion regulation. Emotion regulation is a skill that can be learned and trained. Healthy emotion regulation strategies are important contributors to good mental health and well-being, especially in youth.
School nurses are in a unique position to help young people, and they want increased competence in how to meet this need.
In 2025, we are conducting a nation-wide experimental study in 28 municipalities, 85 school nurses and 300 youth. Thank you for considering your child´s participation in this study. The results will contribute to improving school health services for youth in the future.
